Pastors Corner October 2014

By: Sammy Wallace

Bro Sammy
October is synonymous with Judgement House here at FBC Loretto. Somehow many years ago God chose to lay his hand on this ministry and use it in such a way that we are amazed. For those from FBC and other Churches in our area, you have part of bringing about 1500 individuals through the dramatic presentation each year. Past statics indicate about 100 will be save with that many more making other meaningful decisions for Christ. (Pray that God’s presence will be manifested mightily this year as well!)

When I first came to FBC, I was so amazed at the percentage of FBC members who help in Judgement House (Actors, Guides, Prayer Walkers, Security, Food, Door Knockers, Scene Builders, and More.) Note the announcement on the front of this Newsletter about Judgement House.

This will be our second year to host the Tuesday Noon Meal for Oktoberfest. Once again we plan to have Chicken Stew on Oct. 7. We will need help to peel potatoes and onions on Monday and serving on Tuesday. Your Sunday School Class should have been asked to help somehow. If not, see Becky in the Church Office.

The Oktoberfest Community Worship will be on Oct 5 at 6pm in Veteran’s Park. I will be preaching and Clayton will be leading the Worship Music. Plan on Attending. You will note in Angie & Kenneth’s newsletter article that we are planning on another Family Worship Day on Oct 19. We continue to pray for families to grow in Christ.

Music and Senior Adults Report October 2014

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.”
Proverbs 16:31

We had a wonderful celebration and fellowship with the Senior Adults on September 23, 2014. There were 41 senior adults that attended and ate with us that evening. I’m so
thankful to those who came and helped serve the Senior Adults that evening.

I’m so thankful that we see our Senior Adults being faithful to God and still serving and active in our church activities. They are truly an example to all of us as they continue to lead and serve.

I’m so thankful to have the privilege of being with them every month and enjoying their fellowship and wisdom.

I love you Senior Adults!

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me”.
John 17:20-21

I’m so thankful that Jesus saw the importance of praying for you and me in the Garden of Gethsemane before His crucifixion. He desired that we be one body, together, serving God and depending on each other for support along the journey of life. We should follow His example and pray for the men that God has brought to this church to lead, that we would follow God’s leadership and vision for our church. Pray for each other too. That we would be the church God desires us to be!

Blessings to you,
Bro. Clayton

Thank you to everyone for taking part in our Family Worship Service and our Parent Appreciation Dinner. Special thanks to all that help cook and serve.

We will have a Family Worship Service again on October 19th. We will not have Children’s Church so that you can enjoy worshipping as a family. We hope that this can also be a teaching moment on why and how we worship. We will have a children’s message during the service.

After speaking to many of our parents, I know that we all want for the children and youth of our church to grow to be spiritual leaders. Many of you pray for your children every day. We pray for God’s blessing and protection; happiness; help in making wise decisions, and help them walk through the difficult times. These are all great prayers and heartfelt.

Here are a list of 31 traits to pray for your children each day:

  1. Salvation
  2. Growth in Grace
  3. Love
  4. Honesty & Integrity
  5. Self Control
  6. Love for God’s Word
  7. Justice
  8. Mercy
  9. Respect
  10. Strong, Biblical Self-Esteem
  11. Faithfulness
  12. Courage
  13. Purity
  14. Kindness
  15. Generosity
  16. Peace
  17. Joy
  18. Perseverance
  19. Humility
  20. Compassion
  21. Responsibility
  22. Contentment
  23. Faith
  24. A Servant’s Heart
  25. Hope
  26. Willingness & Ability to Work Hard
  27. Passion for God
  28. Self Discipline
  29. Prayerfulness
  30. Gratitude
  31. Heart for Missions

We all know that Prayer is powerful. Pray a trait over your child each day. Pray with them about that trait. Before long, they may be echoing the same prayer for themselves.

For a copy of the traits with a scripture, go to the Welcome Center or visit our website.

In Christ Alone,
Angie and Kenneth
