We have all taken Vacations this summer. Debbie & I had a wonderful week of rest and relaxation in Orange Beach, AL. It was the first vacation, in a long time, that wasn’t attached to a church activity or with other family members. We actually came back without needing a vacation to get over the vacation.
We have been working to make sharing prayer needs easier. You may join and post prayer needs on our new Facebook group – FBC Loretto Prayer Partners. Or you may call the church with prayer request about you or your family, and we will send out new prayer needs daily when we have such request.
We are planning some special Family Services & Meetings for Sunday, Sept. 7. More information will follow. But be sure to keep that Sunday Morning & Evening free. Parents and Grandparent – you won’t want to miss this.
“Let us not give up meeting to-
gether, as some are in the habit of
doing…”– Heb 10:2.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:…” Ecclesiastes 3:1
We’re at the close of summer and I’m so amazed at how blessed we were with mild temperatures throughout the last few months. We will soon be seeing the affects of the season changing as children start back to school, football games begin, leaves will be changing colors on the trees and We’ll feel the coolness of fall. I love that we have a God who gives us a variety of seasons to enjoy.
Nothing stagnates and stays the same.
Much like our Christian walk, we too have seasons of change. There are times of trials and hardships, times of sadness and rejoicing, times of quiet and stillness and then times of Joy
and celebration!
It reminds us of the farmers as I reflect on this passage of scripture. I watched my Grandfather plan out the seasons for his crops. Times of rotating the fields, times of plowing, times of fertilizing and times of planting and protecting the crops. Then the time of harvest arrives and we are blessed with the fruits of our labor.
These times come for a Christian too. When we look back we see God’s hand on us all the time making our lives a fertile ground for growth as we walk daily with Him, we must trust Him in every season to accomplish the good that He has for us no matter what we face.
Blessings to you,
Bro. Clayton
What does this word mean? Is it teaching the Word of God to a new Christian? Is it Sunday School/Preaching? Is it a class you take outside of the church?
I believe that all of these are a part of Discipleship, but it’s not just teaching and preaching the Word of God. It is also living an example in front of others of how to serve the Lord.
When I was young, I remember having a Family Bible Study every night. We would gather on Mom and Dad’s bed and read and talk about God’s Word. When given the opportunity, they led each of us to Christ. At church, we saw them participating in singing (even though dad’s singing is not that good), prayer, tithing, counseling…all forms of worship.
I believe that we have lost this “Lead By Example” in our churches and families today.
We have great programs such as Nursery, Children’s Church, Sunday School, Youth Worship; but our children/youth never see their parents worship, pray, read our Bibles.
Parents are commanded to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Prov. 22:6 KJV) If we do not train our children that singing, praying, Bible study, church attendance is important; how will they know that it’s important when they are older?
Deuteronomy 6:2, 7 says: 2 Do this so that you may fear the LORD your God all the days of your life by keeping all His statutes and commands I am giving you, your son, and your grandson, and so that you may have a long life…. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
In September we will kick off our Family Focus Worship. We will have a guest speaker and parent dinner on September 7. We will ask our families to sit together and worship as a family. We know that we have several youth and adults that have no family at church. We ask you to keep that in mind and invite them to worship with your family.
I believe that God will do a great work in this. I already see Him at work in my family and through the trials that we have faced the last few months. I will praise Him even through the trials.
In Christ Alone,
Kenneth & Angie Parker
