This week’s theme is Armor of God
The Point: Our war is with Satan, not each other.
Life in general requires a certain amount of protection and equipment, and when a person engages in battle, the proper weaponry and clothing are necessary. In this passage, we see some of the equipment we need for spiritual warfare.
This week’s theme is Submission to the Spirit
The Point: God designed us for loving submission.
There are any number of components that go into a relationship, submission is one that is often overlooked or rejected. It is, however, vital to healthy relationships.
This week’s theme is Spiritual Maturity
The Point: Spiritual growth is seen through actions.
Growth and maturity are natural results of life. This is true whether in children, fruits, vegetables, or believers. In this passage, we see that Christians should be growing toward maturity in their relationship with God.
This week’s theme is Reconciliation
The Point: Christ unites us with God and people.
We’re not all great at math, but most people in our world are good at division. Satan is the great divider, driving wedges between God and man. Ephesians 2 presents Christ as the ultimate reconciler, uniting people with God and with one another.
This week’s theme is Adoption.
The point: God’s grace makes us family.
As honorable as adoption is today, it was even more noble in the first-century world in which Paul lived. In Ephesians 1, we see how all believers have been adopted into God’s family, and what that means for us.
This week’s theme is Hope.
The Point: We can trust and thank God in any circumstance.
Whether good or bad, life’s circumstances provide the believer with opportunities for trust and thanksgiving. Here, we see how Paul demonstrated hope and trust in all circumstances. We should follow his example.
This week’s theme is Courage.
The point: Courage is obeying, no matter what others may say.
Summary: Courage is a necessity for believers who want to make a difference for the sake of the kingdom of God. In this session, as we examine some instances in Paul’s life when he showed courage, we will see how we need courage today to obey God in every circumstance.
